New Aquarium

I resurrected an old 90 gallon aquarium from storage and decided to set up a freshwater system for the family. My youngest daughter got to choose the decorations and my hopes of a Lake Malawi ciclid tank went by the wayside.

The lightning system is the Marineland Reef Capable LED, which may be overkill for a tropical tank. But, man are these lights bright and cool (literally). There are a total of 46 1W 10,000K (white) LEDs and 8 1W 460nm (blue) LEDs. I also have a red LED in the volcano, which is on a timer to remain on during the night.

This tank is being filtered with an Eheim 2180 Thermo Canister filter. So far so good with this system. The filter is very quiet and holds temperature very well. The inlets are in the lower rear corners and the water return is via a spreader on the upper right.

We currently have about 90 inches of fish, which is probably a bit on the high side, so we'll see how that goes.
